AVX support is required to run MegAlign Pro version 17.1 and later
Date: 6/24/20
Version Affected: 17.1 and later
Version Fixed: N/A
Issue: MegAlign version 17.1 and later includes RAxML for Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic inference calculations. This feature requires a CPU with Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX ) support. Computers without AVX support are not able to compute phylogeny using RAxML in MegAlign Pro.
Resolution: To run MegAlign Pro 17.1, you must use a CPU with AVX support. Generally, processors from 2011 and later were built with AVX support. If your computer may have been built prior to 2011, you can determine whether your CPU supports AVX by checking with the manufacturer for your CPU model, or looking it up here. To find your CPU model:
- On Windows, open Settings and choose System>About.
- On mac OS users, go to the Apple icon and select About This Mac.
