April 23, 2020 Newsletter – Sequence Alignment Webinar, Long Read Genome Polishing, and COVID-19 Studies

April 23, 2020 Newsletters

At DNASTAR, we strive to provide excellent customer service and support even during this time of uncertainty. If there is anything we can do to better support your research efforts, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team. In this month’s newsletter, we feature our upcoming webinar, as well as the previous webinar hosted a few weeks ago. Additionally, we highlight our most recent blog post and whitepaper on genome polishing for Oxford Nanopore and PacBio assemblies.

Join us for our upcoming MegAlign Pro webinar

Are you new to using MegAlign Pro? A highly experienced user? In our upcoming webinar Best practices for sequence alignment in MegAlign Pro we will show you how to perform multiple and pairwise sequence alignments and share our best tips for using MegAlign Pro. At 11:00 CDT on Wednesday, April 29, this one-hour webinar will answer the most frequently asked questions, from how to make the switch from MegAlign to MegAlign Pro, to determining which alignment algorithm to use. Presented by Brian Walsh, PhD, this free webinar is one you won’t want to miss. I will be hosting the webinar, so feel free to reply to this email directly with any questions you want us to cover in the webinar.

Did you miss our last webinar?

Working remotely has not been easy for everyone, but our most recent webinar can help ease the transition to using Lasergene from home. This webinar provides a great overview of the common Lasergene applications and gives tips on using Lasergene from home. Information about how to access tutorials is also provided.

Newest blog post and white paper

Are you working with Oxford Nanopore or PacBio long read data? Have you tried Canu or other tools for de novo genome assembly? Our latest blog post discusses how to correct or polish these assemblies using SeqMan NGen, and why you may need to do this. We’ve even included a brand-new white paper comparing genome polishing in SeqMan NGen to three other tools.

COVID-19 publications featuring DNASTAR

Did you know that DNASTAR software is being used around the world to learn about the novel coronavirus and how to fight it? Some recent papers by our customers are shown below. Thank you to our customers and all researchers for your important work in this area! For even more updates, please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
